Life is a bitch called Irony.

Irony  ”Incongruity between what might be expected and what actually occurs.”

So… I moved into a new flat. How’s that going? Good… I suppose. For those of you who don’t know what it’s like to live on your own here is a quick pro’s vs con’s.

You get to do whatever you want to whenever you want to do it providing A) it’s okay with the landlord/neighbours, B) you can afford it or C) you have the proper tools to do it with. For instance: Listening to loud music will bother you and only you until your neighbours go to bed. I can eat whenever I want. It turns out that buying eggs in bulk is a good source of cheap bachelor food. Just be sure to double check you have a pan, spatula, salt and oil (see C). Post note: Want tuna, need can opener.

Irony has made herself very apparent to me the last week or so. Moments when the whole crowd would stop and stare in stunned silence and one guy saying ”Well isn’t that ironic?”.

We went out on Friday and for once actually worked up the nerve to get a phone number. We danced, we sang (lies for dramatic effect) and we danced some more. The following week I asked her if she would like to go out with me(I would even pay for the drinks). Good news is she thought I was a decent guy. Bad news is she’s engaged to another. This is unfortunately a problem for me seeing as I can’t really afford to pay for both their drinks. Ironically I am quite relieved since this means I can spend all the money I don’t have on me. Woot.

Ironically this isn't irony. Just thought it was funny.

Doom doom doomdiddy doom,

“War! What is it good for? Absolutely nothing… except ending slavery, developing technology, over throwing greedy dictators and establishing independence. Other than that absolutely nothing. “ Some lyrics just don’t work.
This is a topic that has been popping up quite often. But since discussing lyrics that seem silly is silly I’m going to chat about: War!

Almost everyday everyone is randomly talking to someone who is quite convinced that either the world will end, we will be attacked by communist, extremist or zombies and the world will end or we will reach the final chapter in a grand story and we will all be saved (right before the world ends).Reading the newspaper explains why people feel like this(does or President really need two planes worthR1.6bn? ).

The first message I want to purvey in this post is simple. Stop it! (that’s stop doom saying and not stop reading kids!)

I’m planning to live on to the ripe old age of 500 thank you very much. 150 years here, 200 years on a space ship flying  to some sister planet earth and the rest of my time colonising said planet. Remember my name because I’m going to be famous on two planets.

Still think that we are going to wipe ourselves out? There is one good reliable reason why that is very unlikely. It’s not profitable. War has always been about gain. Whether it is for oil or land or money. Wiping out an entire country not only potentially destroys the resource, it also destroys the work force responsible for that resource. Don’t argue that they will bring their own workforce because who is going to feed, clothe and shelter them? So we aren’t blowing ourselves up soon.

This doesn’t mean there isn’t war. It is a sad and terrible thing but if it weren’t for war you wouldn’t be reading this. Just ask this silly sod …

The person in this picture is an idiot by the way.

If it weren’t for the war, Alan Turing might not have had the passion he had for algorithms http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Turing

War creates necessity. Necessity breeds demand. Demand needs to be met with supply. Supply can be improved with technology. War is the reason we aren’t still playing with lions in the coliseum. War and a gay guy is the reason we get to play “The elder scrolls V :Skyrim” this weekend.

It’s not so much that war is a good thing but rather that humans are bad. We excel when pushed and when we excel we become power hungry. That is why we will never be extinct. Ignore point in case of zombie apocalypse.

Four legged spider.

I saw a four legged spider yesterday. I usually don’t kill spiders but considered putting this one out of its misery. I didn’t…
We are all four legged spiders. We are victims of life. We parade our suffering like badges. Our world is littered with self-pitying status updates. I can hardly speak to anyone these days without getting a report regarding their miserable week. What they don’t realize is that the person they are droning on to is, in their own attempt at a little sympathy begging, preparing a list of calamities to recite as soon as they can get a chance to yap. We desperately cling to suffering because we somehow developed this idea that suffering begets greatness or riches or some such other muck.

I too do this sometimes. Anyone who has spoken to me a week before a test can attest. Truth is it isn’t that bad now is it? I passed. Eventually… And although I do get lack of sleep, pain and stress and all that nonsense… but so does everyone else. There will always be a spider with one less leg than you. I don’t care how bad your week was. There is a child in Africa who doesn’t even own a Wii. . . Stop bitching.

If you aren’t going to win the sympathy race and everyone else is too busy feeling sorry for themselves to give a rats ar…hoot, then why are you doing this to yourself you poor bugger? You me a fighting spirit. Show me that you are the poster child for “survival of the fittest”. I don’t care that you have had a kak week. I do however admire a strong personality.

I saw the four legged spider again today. The little bugger was still crawling around.

Side note: Someone just asked me if I eat… No. I come with a pair of USB cables and need to be recharged every 12 hours.

Mark of Anarchy

We are treated like children because we act like children. I suppose you have heard about Mark Esterhuysen, the DJ who ranted on radio at 1am in the morning. During the incredible rant he said: 'Good morning, I'm Mark Esterhuysen.
F*** racism. F*** the pigs who killed Andries Tatane. F*** the AWB. F*** racism. We are all wild animals meant to live free.'F*** capitalism. F*** fascism. F*** this f***ing wage slavery graveyard shit. 'F*** domestication. F*** Malema. F*** the state. F*** the petrol economic growth on a finite planet. This is the only f***ing planet we have'Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2042448/Newsreader-Mark-Esterhuysen-sacked-using-F-word-13-times-live-air.html#ixzz1ZFRiMZhA Read more

Awake the sleeping masses

I was driving on the N1, listening to other DJ’s praise and criticize Mark and I realized that he was indeed a strong individual. How long has it been that I stood for something? At that moment I noticed the ten thousand people around me, doing 40kmph, blankly staring at the break lights of the cars in front of them. A police van swerved into my lane, across a solid white line and cut in right in front of me.  What could I do? It was police after all… It was transporting people in civs. No sirens. No lights. But still this driver decided that he may break the law as he sees fit. No outcry of injustice. We are ignored like children because we cower like children.

Open their eyes.

When you finally realize that there is a person in the vehicle next to you then it becomes a nightmare. What would you normally do when meeting someone for the first time. Wave? Smile? Do you walk up to them and shake them by the hand? You simply ignore them. Deny their existence and then wonder why the mass injustice is the land is being ignored. The reason is because YOU can’t do anything about it neither could he or she. Not even Mandela could do anything about it. I am weak because I refuse to acknowledge the people around me.

Arm them.

As I rolled down my window to greet the man in his Corsa, I faltered. My conviction faded. I feared everything. Could I walk into a place and risk my life, career, comfortable life style for merely saying what I believe in? It’s easy to test surely. Walk up to a complete stranger and say “Hi.” Roll down your window and shout it. Wave. Smile. Don’t text. Don’t blog. Don’t sms your parents to tell them how much you love them. Don’t write “I love you from x” on a piece of paper and leave it under her chair. Take a chance. We are silent because we don’t know how to speak.

Believe in them.

He ranted. He risked it all. He shouted at the world. Do you know what the result was? He was heard. At 1 in the morning. On the internet. Around the world. I we could all stand together and show some small part of the courage that Mark did, we could rock this world.

Dreaming while I am awake.

Run little rabbit run. The dogs of thought are snapping at you heels.

The last few days, I find myself wondering the strangest things. A whole new world has opened up to me. A world where darkness is civil, sin is common and it all doesn’t seem out of place. This is the world of Vampire - The Masquerade. In this world a particular clan, as they are called, has clenched onto my curiosity. They are the ones who carry the bloodline of Malkav and they are called the Malkavian.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malkavian

It is said that they hear voices and they are incurably insane but if one takes the time to listen to them you may be able to revet a better picture of reality or even a glimpse of the future. This in turn made me wonder about how we commune. How a person can totally ramble on and I won’t hear a word or contrariwise, how a person can fire a short sentence and hit a mark in your consciousness that bleeds a whole story. Part of this delightful technic is the serving of visual cogitation.

I have found a liking to my neighbor's rose. A beautiful red specimen. Symbol of enamoredness. But this rose has a rather annoying thorn with an irritating prick and thus prevents this prize from being plucked.

Although I do not share the Malkvian's link to the "Network of minds" , I rather enjoy this idea of speaking in riddles. There is however, probably a handful of people who could decipher my little bubbling of words and thoughts and realize what they mean but that is not because of mental effort. One might percieve it as a code or a different language. Something that could be said publicly but only understood by few. That is the idea anyway. The problem is that this is something that takes time to devise. It is quite possible to , with practice, incorporate this wonderful play with words into everyday speech but it will most probably drive you insane. In all eventuallity the same with the people around you...

In my garden there is... there was the most beautiful flower. The sight of it could drive me to tears. But someone has stumbled into my garden and ever since then the flower won't bloom. This could also drive me to tears. If I catch you in my garden again I will set the dogs on you.

On a different note however
It is suprising how apaced the melody of our lives can change. I often hear a person saying “ you are not the same person “ and I often find myself wondering what this person means. Of course we change you silly child. We change daily. By the minute even. You change your mind and you change. You decide on something and you change. I would hope to have changed quite a lot after ten years actually.
But sometimes I don’t believe it myself.

The Jackal told the Scribe that he has changed. For a moment the Scribe saw a Lion but remembered the teeth of the Jackal.

?? The road to ruin ??

`Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?'
`That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,' said the Cat.
`I don't much care where--' said Alice.
`Then it doesn't matter which way you go,' said the Cat.
`--so long as I get SOMEWHERE,' Alice added as an explanation.
`Oh, you're sure to do that,' said the Cat, `if you only walk long enough.’”

Lately it is greatly emphasized that are choices are ours to make.  Quite often the topic of facebook and email spam, quotes are often abundant on the internet. We often hear that we need to make our own choices in matters of love, finance and or just about anything. Often stating that "taking risks will reap great rewards". Do I go out? Do I stay in? Make or break? Mac or PC? Black or white?

This has however created a larger problem. People suffer from the illusion that they choose the outcome. I would like to remind you, dear reader, that in fact you have as much control of the outcome of the choices you make as a person planting a seed has control over the fruit it bears. You may be able to make the choice. Will I plant the seed? If yes then, where will I plant the seed? If there then, will I water it? Etcetera. Will it grow if I do all these things?

The consequence of making a choice is often unforeseen and may have a negative result. That’s how you find yourself in car wreckage at 4am in the morning. The paths leading up to this one point may have had good intentions. Should I turn left or right? Seems like an easy choice to make but you can’t know what will happen on that road, only what you “want” to happen on that road.
The greater powers that be, is often seen standing at the fork in this road demanding you make a choice. Often it believed that this force knows the outcome be it fate, deity, the universe or Schrödinger’s damned Cheshire cat. We are lead to believe that it is our choice to make but in the end the result may be the same whichever way you go. Like a robber demanding your money or your life. What’s to stop him from taking both even if you made your choice?

Spoilt for choice?

Should we just give up and off ourselves since we don’t have control anyway? That would be a silly decision. So would be flipping a coin. Here are some tips.

Yes, you should choose to talk to her. The result may be good or bad but not talking to her is bad or boring.

Never pick Mac. You will end up working with PC anyway.

When in doubt pick the interesting path. If the result is bad, at least you learned/enjoyed the path.

Good or evil? If you have to make that choice you need to consider the long run. Stealing a loaf of bread may feed you but working for that loaf of bread may mean nobody is chasing you while you are trying to eat it. . .

Never “try to walk a mile in their shoes”. A) That shoe is not meant to fit your feet. B) It’s hard to explain to the authorities why you are wearing someone’s shoes.

Whatever choice you make, whichever road you choose isn’t as important as living with the consequences of those actions. So make the choice using your own moral conscience. Sleeping in your cell is better than not being able to sleep. I think I have to reconsider that one a bit...

*Side note* (Fictional food for thought)
The sacred “apple tree” is the tree of choice. We start at the root and the choices we make lead us down different branches. If by some nefarious means we would decide to pick the fruit without following the branch would mean you gained knowledge of what could be. Thus it is forbidden. The forbidden fruit maybe?

Religious offensive.

Seeing as my family and friends do read my blog from time to time and most of my friends and family are devote christians this post might be like commiting blogging harikiri. I hereby accept that some of you will not agree and might not even be particularly impressed. In fact this is so dangerous that I’m not sure that I’m going to even post this.

I am going to challenge religion.

I have always been a Christian. That is born into a Christian family, went to a Christian Church. (Do you get none Christian Churches? ) Christian school. Christian... But I have for the past few years strayed from the flock so to speak. I haven’t converted my religion to another but I haven’t been to church in quite a while. Mainly because of laziness. The explanation I give to the press is that I haven’t found a church worthy of going to. The truth is I have no argument to stand on. I cannot say churches are wrong or that I dont agree with your views because I am not informed enough to make an educated well thought out argument. In other words ,for all I know, I am wrong and you are right. So here is what I am going to do. I am going to study the Bible and I am going to go to church. I am going to other churches to. I will challenge the highest authority of these churches and see what happens. If I find someone can sate my curiosity and convince me of his relation I will do my profession of faith. Something I have not yet done because of my difference of church belief.

Here are some of the problems I am looking in to.

Heaven and hell. What is it? Where is it? How is it? More importantly: How do I not go there? In the days of science there has to be some explanation of space and mass to justify these two places. “You moron. Science has no place in religion” is what you might think no but what I mean about days of science is man’s ability to think open minded – uhm... ly ? I already have a theory but do you ?

The Bible. Who wrote it? Who rewrote it? Who re –re wrote the re write of what was written when? And how can we trust it?

Can a church be open to public opinion? Can we debate a point? Do we believe because it’s convenient? Etc etc.

I am really starting to believe that this whole idea is a bad one...

3vil

Word spell and grammar check broked and to lazy too do it myself. Another reason to be hung shot and run over by a Golf...
Recent news of the death of a well known terrorist has sparked multiple debates about right and wrong across the globe which in turn got me thinking about the scales of good and evil. A certain scientist insists that evil is the lack of empathy. He further explains that empathy has two forms the first being the ability to identify another persons thoughts and feelings and the second being the ability to correctly respond to those thoughts and feelings.
Who is capable of being evil?
It is commonly accepted that a man who murders another man is evil. We have many literary works prescribing that murder in any form is wrong and we take some of these books (ie Bible) very seriously. If you are in the predisposition to condemn someone for their sins then condemn me too for
 I am a sinner.

I sometimes wondered what would be written if the bible was continued today.
“Today we shall read a passage from the book of ”Life Ranting junk and stuff” blog 800 verse 2,” And he commenteth “woot!” to the org of piratebay and praised and shared and was jolly. And he warned his followers that before the tweet of the second day he would be betrayed and they shall hide their facebook profiles in shame 0_o ...”

I would like to run an idea past you, dear reader, that perhaps all sin is evil but not all evil is involves sinning. The Sage on Sinning : Transgressing a moral or divine law. To a terrorist committing an evil act is not transgressing “his”(the terrorist) moral or divine law. Since we are mostly allowed to interpret religious works anyway we want we are basically allowed to do what we want. Lets for a moment consider that religion does not exist. What else can drive a man to commit evil deeds? Greed perhaps. Power? Lust? All of these can be explained by lack of empathy and personal gain but...

Am I evil ?
By logic I have committed many sins and have impure thoughts and ergo I am evil. Just because I dont have sharks with fricking lasers attached to there heads... Their are a few games out there which allows the player to choose his “alignment” (good or evil). Generally I choose good and even when you are forced to choose the evil path it is either justified or evil camouflage. GTA for instance you steal and murder but its for a good cause. There is very rarely genuine evil. This might have influenced my empathy in real life somewhat but there is no real test for it except perhaps video games. It has given me the ability to identify evil or at least the ability to consider the outcome of my actions. Perhaps I should commit being truly evil for a day.
Ie: You are starving. Luckily you have an apple. Woot! Unluckily there is an orphan with abnormally huge brown eyes seemingly starving too. Do you a) Give the apple to the orphan? b) Share the apple with the orphan and gain half the HP c) Kill the orphan with the apple and eat the orphan.

C ! You have gained 1000XP points. Woot !

Then there is argument of degrees of evil. Is it possible to be a little bad and are we allowed to? What evil choices have you made lately?
